UPFROMUNDER was formed when lifelong friends, Will Stucky, 22, and Luke Rountree, 23, began writing songs together in 2000.  The two currently reside in Oklahoma City, OK, where UPFROMUNDER was originally established.  The sound is alternative, while displaying a mature sensitivity towards the slower, acoustic/piano ballads; resembling bands such as John Mayer and Coldplay, and bears frantic and angst rock like that of Counting Crows.  In 2003, UPFROMUNDER went into the studio for the first time to record their first full-length album.

The album was entitled Love & Do, inspired by an old hymn of Rev. John H. Sammis, Trust and Obey. Recording began in 2004 and was completed a year later. Rountree and Stucky took on most of the instrumental and vocal work of the album, except for the percussion and drum skills of a local indie rock favorite and longtime friend, Arlis Moon.  The album was well received by both fans and critics. "Even though some of the tunes on the CD were written during their high school years, listeners will probably be surprised at the maturity and craftsmanship in the 11 songs"  (Eddie Glenn, Tahlequah Daily Press).  The songs range from roaring, catchy guitar rock to melodic folksongs that displays UPFROMUNDER's fresh take on songwriting.  It also exemplifies the diversity of UPFROMUNDER, as Eddie Glenn remarked, "Like any album worth listening to, Love & Do defies categorization."

"In the front room of the Inner Bean coffee house is UPFROMUNDER, playing on the corner stage with the dim lighting that only a home could offer. Luke and Will have finely tuned their sound and where they want to be musically. Without even knowing how long they have been playing together it is obvious that they have worked long and hard to produce the almost effortless live show UPFROMUNDER has. Their sound is a mix of new school Wallflowers and the former band Fonograph from Springfield, MO. These guys are road worthy and could survive in any venue, in any setting. UPFROMUNDER captured the audience at the Inner Bean this evening, along with myself, and I am sure they will gain attention wherever they play," Bobby Wintle (Booking for Inner Bean Coffee House, Emporia, KS; Co-Worship Leader at Flint Hills Christian Church, Emporia, KS; former rhythm guitarist and background vocals for Inyourhonor.)

To balance the demands of college and the band, Rountree and Stucky promoted the album with small, intimate acoustic shows in the Oklahoma City and Tulsa regions.  However when the Rountree and Stucky showcased the album at their CD release party in Tahlequah, they called upon the help of the band's current bassist John Freise and guest drummer Jared Stone (local Tulsa musician).  The night was a hit, and the band played a rocking show to a sellout 200+ crowd at the Northeastern State University Jazz Lab.

After Rountree and Stucky's graduation from college, the band has remained focused and determined to continue their march on the music scene.  With the addition of drummer Ryan McGuire and guitarist Jeremy Davidson, UPFROMUNDER is currently performing in Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee, and Arkansas.  The band continues to hit many hotspots around the Oklahoma City area (The Conservatory, Convergence, and UCO Jazz Lab), to 100 + crowds, and opening for Oklahoma favorites Sherree Chamberlain, Ali Harter, and Luma.  These latest shows are displaying the band's ability to re-create older songs from Love and Do, while new material continues to draw a new and diverse fan base.
